I am not trying to make this an anti-immigration as I think there are some benefits to it. However, western governments’ policies over the past 30 years especially the acceleration of illegal immigration the past 10 years, is similar to death by suicide. Not only are the financial costs great but the failure of assimilating these immigrants causes undue burden to the towns/cities where they settle.

So, why do Politicians allow these immigration policies? I believe there are three reasons and they are: votes, federal funding and congressional representation. For votes, the hope is that there will be a mass amnesty in which the reward for politicians would a new voting bloc to help them with their election campaigns.

For federal funding, the democrats under (allegedly) President Biden allowed in the 2020 census to count all people legal or illegal. By counting illegals, this would boost the numbers so more federal spending for local projects can be funded. Most of these sanctuary states and cities are already near bankruptcy by providing services to illegals, so this federal money is very much needed.

Finally, these sanctuary sites need immigrants to keep their proportional congressional representation. Because of the insane economic polices of places such as New York and California, people are leaving in droves to states with more sustainable economic policies. Because of this, both states have lost congressional seats as a result of these losses. Therefore, if illegals are counted, the states can maintain their proportional representation and try to influence their policies on the rest of the country.

Sad to say, some of these politicians stand up for the rights of illegals more than their own constituency. Case in point, Karen Bass is giving out pre-paid debit cards to illegals while many who were affected by the California wild fires earlier this year have received nothing. Moreover, in sanctuary cities or states in which illegals have committed violent crimes, politicians fight harder for MS-13 members than for the families that were victimized.

I honestly believe that many of these people that cross into the country illegally do so for a better life or escape persecution. However, there also many that are criminal and they are pushed out of their home countries so they can be either someone else’s problem or to cause chaos. For the latter, there were thousands of military age Chinese men that were apprehended then released into the country. One cannot just voluntarily leave China so it is concerning why they were allowed to come to North America in the first place.

There are multiple issues with illegal immigration but I think the two main ones are the costs to taxpayers as well non-assimilation. As most of these immigrants do not have any job prospects they are immediately put on government assistance. Or even worse, immigration groups and politicians entice people to enter illegally by promoting how to get on government assistance. Either or, this is costing billions to the American tax payers to support these people.

But even greater than the costs is the lack of assimilation for the immigrants. Most of above I am referring to the U.S. problem, and assimilation is an issue domestically, but in Europe it is much worse. Many of the immigrants come from the Middle East or North Africa and do not speak the local language. Many of the governments place immigrants in the same area so they are basically separated communities from the rest of the country. Over time, some of these cities in Europe are now non-native dominated and basically have either their own laws or politicians back them so they keep voting them in power.

Coupled with the influx of immigrants, many western nations suffer from low fertility rates. You need 2.1 children for a society to grow and many are well below that. In an excellent book called “American Alone”, author Mark Steyn details the fertility rates in which several countries such as Greece, Italy and France have fertility rates that are so low, that they cannot be replaced. But this only tells half the story: the people that are having kids tend to be the immigrants and not the citizens. This does not have anything to do with a person’s skin color but has to do with culture as if these immigrants pass on theirs’s, the host culture will disappear. Bruce Bauer’s “While Europe Slept” is also another good read about this issue.

Under Trump’s second term, illegal immigration has improved dramatically. Border crossings are almost down to zero, millions have self deported and incentive to come to this country reduced by stripping federal support for illegals. But it is still an onerous task to complete. Under the Biden administration, up to 20 million have snuck into this country many with criminal backgrounds and it will be hard to round all of them up quickly. But Homan has been doing a good job in trying to clean this up.

You always hear from the democrats about comprehensive immigration reform but what does that really mean? To them it means amnesty and granting citizenship which is unfair to those that came to this country the legal way. You also hear that “well we need these people for farming”; if that is the case, then congress should create some type of farming/work visa. They need to have some type of permission to be in this country and background check done, but the idea of letting people just come in with no background check is a national security issue. Maybe for some of the people that have been here awhile, some type of visa can be granted which needs to be renewed but to reward someone with citizenship for breaking the law is absurd.

I know the process is long to get into this country from experience. My wife came to this country legally and the process I believe took about one year to one year and a half. She was actually rejected at first not because of anything she did but because immigration and control couldn’t confirm if I was an actual citizen! But after convincing that the government I was indeed born in the US, she was granted permission to come over. Though she does keep her home country’s roots she has assimilated herself to America even to the point that she is now watching American sports!
